Eve and the apple................?

At a Flea Market this week (in a £1 tray!), I picked up this little leather pouch, with a metal apple inside -

The chap selling it reckoned it was a bookmark - seems unlikely, as it would simply slip out. Any ideas?  It's about 6cm square.

At our previous house, we didn't have much joy with growing foxgloves, so lovely this week, to see some flourishing here -

Lots of flowers starting to appear now in the garden - it's such a lovely time of year, isn't it? (Though, as I took these photos, it started to cloud over - boo!!)

Tilly's first shoes! -

And the cupboard from the last post?  I got Mr VTT to put it up - and we'll live with it there for a while - I'm enjoying fiddling with putting different things on it, anyway! -

And it 'goes with' the little herb cupboard on the other wall -

And, after all that triviality, don't forget the Big If London event on Sat June 8th Enough food for everyone

"Together we will build a breathtaking field of flowers, with 2 million petals representing the 2 million children that die from hunger every year. We'll create an iconic image showing that we can change this - that there can be enough food in the world for everyone.Thousands of volunteers will have been working to plant a quarter of a million flowers in the shape of an enormous cooking pot, held by human hands. But the pot will be empty. On the day of our rally, come and make your own flower and plant it in the empty space - filling the cooking pot with food to remind G8 leaders that we can make 2013 the beginning of the end of hunger"

  1. Eve and the apple is lovely, if perplexing. What on earth could it have been for?
Ahh, first shoes! I still have my daughters.

  2. Could the metal apple be a mirror? Then that could allude to the tree of knowledge and loss of innocence. Or is that a bit heavy for what is probably a simple motto? I've quite a few of somewhat similar small leather wallets, often with quite amusing mottos. One contained a single screw, "Screw Loose, Sir?", another a sewing kit, " Troubles are ended when they are mended".

What a wonderful view you have from your lovely garden, by the way.

    1. I guess it could just about serve as a mirror, but you don't get a very clear reflection (my kind of mirror!). The mottos on your wallets made me smile! Yes, the view was about 75% the reason we bought the house! x

  4. I think I've seen a maker of leather goods on line called Eve and the Apple, not sure if there is a connection. I too wondered if it was a mirror. I love the view across the fields from your garden which is looking lovely as is your new shelf unit:)

  7. Heck I'm a fool. I've just googled "morroe" (as per Blueberry Heart!). No such thing! Anyway, I get it now. It's a mirror and it's so sweet. Thank you for a glimpse of your beautiful garden and your lovely home. xx

  8. Can't think what it could be apart from a mirror, or a mini coaster...?? Your garden is looking lovely - hope you're getting a chance to sit at that table and soak in the view now the sun's shining at last. Feel I don't spend enough time just sitting in the garden and enjoying it. Always charging around like a loon. Tilly looks adorable in her first shoes! I've hung on to the kids first ones too.
Are you going to the London rally? x
