'Tis a bit foggy...............

Really grey and foggy and miserable weather here today :(    Need to keep cheering myself up (I've got a bit of a headache and a scratchy throat, but I'm NOT going to get the horrid bug that the rest of the family had before Christmas!  Go away, bug!) by looking at and smelling lovely flowers and bulbs that are around here - like these hyacinths - mmmm, lovely, can you smell them? -

and these bulbs given to me by MIL - paperwhites, I think they are - gorgeous smell again -

and (yes, it's like a flower shop here!  I love flowers) these non-scented but very pretty roses (bought by Mr VTT!) -

in a pink metal jug bought for £1.99 from B + M! -

My little kitchen windowsill orange tree seems to have survived all the building work -

Grand-daughter Ruby (a month old today!) has been getting to know her brothers -

'Hmm', thinks Ruby, 'I see I'll be off to Specsavers soon'.......!

************************

Well, I'm going to have a hot, steamy bath to see if I can shoo away Mr Bug!

Hope you all have a great New Year if I don't 'see' you before then!

Walking in a winter wonderland.................

Had a lovely Christmas, but then it all got a bit too much for 3 week old Ruby -

Yawn, yawn!! -

Had a lovely walk after Christmas lunch - the weather here made it so picturesque, it was unreal! -

The river (Wye) pretty frozen in parts -

These swans looked a bit chilled! -

The ducks seemed to have found a less icy spot -

(Taken from a bridge - I wasn't in a helicopter!)

Hope you had a lovely time!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

I'd like to wish you all a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS - and to say a big thank you to all the kind people who've made the effort to comment on my blog. I've only been in 'Blogland' a very short time, but I love it!!

I'd originally set up the blog to network and find out about Vintage Fairs, etc., but I soon discovered the whole community that there is out there - all over the world!  Everyone seems really lovely - and there is such a wealth of interesting stuff - home, craft, art, family, humour, advice - masses of ideas and inspiration. Beautiful photos too.

So - THANK YOU all - and have a lovely seasonal break.

I suppose I should be thinking about Christmas......?!

I suppose I should be thinking about Christmas......?!  But now the building work is almost finished (cooker not yet connected, woodwork still to be painted and 2 radiators to be put in), we have to start bringing up everything that we've been storing in our cellar.....phew......I've been up and down the cellar steps about a hundred times today!!   Been putting crockery in new dresser -

(sorry - took that one after the G + T !!)

The space is beginning to pull together -

Thinking of using these glass tiles for a splashback? -

I was given a big wire dog last year for my birthday - he likes his new home! -

So getting there at last!

Baby Ruby continues to do well and to be a delight -

Got a lovely new book this week from Amazon - Plants and Places by Angie Lewin, who does woodcuts of wild plants -

In the book, she shows how she gets her inspiration -

***************************

The roads here are still really icy, so I had a precarious walk into town yesterday -

But it was worth going in, as I got some sweet cups for my stall -

 - and a pretty bag from TK Maxx -

Well, hope you all have a good week. I guess I'd better start wrapping some presents!

New kitchen neeeeaaarly done.....(and severe weather warning)

I know it's too early to post pics of new kitchen / sitting room (should wait til its done and tidy.......tidy, me - ha, ha) , but builders really cracked on today and I'm so excited!!!! - (ignore builder's (and my) mess!) -

(I've got lots of colourful things - bowls, plants, etc. - so it won't look as stark as this - and it's south-facing, so very light )

Bought this low cupboard today (got 10% off as slightly bashed - adding in fact to its charm! ) from Dunelm -

 - and this picture, which reminds me of Angie Lewin's work  -

(The cushions I've already bought are these colours)

I put a Christmas tree up which keeps getting moved about by the builders - there are baubles strewn everywhere!

They've got some cute cushions in Dunelm - very tempted by this one! -

Grand-daughter, Ruby, is doing well -

 - in spite of being very casually held by older brother! -

And the severe weather warning?  Two feet of snow apparently -

King grandson!

Well, I seem to be back online after a few days (seems an age!!) without Broadband - hurrah!

Some gorgeous skies recently -

Our new grand-daughter, Ruby, is doing well -

She's a really 'good' baby - sleeping well, etc - though, of course, she has her moments -

Her oldest brother was one of the Kings this week in his school nativity - he's the tall one in glasses -

The angels in nativity plays are always so sweet, aren't they? - (and the sheep!) -

The builders are working really hard on our extension, so hope to have a kitchen by Christmas!  Cooker arrived yesterday - being connected on Friday.  Off to IKEA this afternoon (wish us luck!!) to get some more parts for the kitchen doors, etc.

Oh, so excited to be online again!!   Have a good week!
