Might do this one next - maybe French grey -
or I might just have a sit down and a cup of tea! -With a biscuit from this vintage biscuit barrel? No - en route for the shop, really -
Along with this pretty cloth and glass domed dish -
And those lettuces look as if they need watering -
And lots of flowers to photograph -
Oh, well, better get back to the painting -

Right, enough dilly-dallying!...............
What a wonderful job you've done of painting all those lovely pieces of furniture! And your flowers and arrangements are just delightful ~ so cheery! Such a lovely post ~ thank you! Love Brenda
ReplyDeleteYou inspire me!!
ReplyDeleteI have been given a lovely gate leg table. I think French gray would be great.
Do you suggest I distress it.
I might blog the table soon.

Hello Abby:
ReplyDeleteOh, if only we were still in Herefordshire, we should be able to have such a field day!
Your painted furniture is most attractive, our favourite possibly being the book shelves. Perhaps it is just a personal choice, but we do like painted furniture to be slightly distressed as you have done here. We just find it easier to place and rather more sympathetic to its surroundings when not bright and shiny and new looking.
this is a dream of mine to be able to go outside someday to my flower beds and fill my vases with flowers throughout my home.......I don't know how you do it gardening is hard work to get going on. I have a yard that has been wild with weeds since God Made it. then my neighbor her family homesteaded all of the property so our portion was their dumping ground and pet cemetery over the years, so yes you guessed in my attempt to make flowerbeds and a garden I am digging up all the undergrowth and hauling it away. I found the cemetery or where a wild animal lived......I'm beginning to wonder if I'm meant to just enjoy other peoples beautiful gardens through blog land and give up!
ReplyDeleteI love your re-do's.....and the jar is amazing!
Well done you with all that painting. Great job. I really must get my act together and do something which doesn't involve reading blogs or watching telly! Beautiful biscuit barrel.
ReplyDeleteYou've done a fantastic job with the painting, I have loads of pieces that could do with the same treatment but I never seem to get round to it...mind you, Pugs and paint don't go! I love the glass dome just perfect for placing something under. I am taking an antique glass dome with a pair of ballet pointe shoes placed under it to the fair this weekend (another one I want to keep). Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteJo xx
Super job with all that painting Abby. If only I were brave enough! I love natural wood, but painted looks good too. Fantastic dome, I've only managed to find a tiny one and a covered cheese dish.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
Rose H
Brilliant job with the painted furniture. I love the glass dome, and as always, enjoy seeing your beautiful flowers and lovely garden.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder you are exhausted... you deserve that sit down with a cup of tea!

If you were nearer, would be very tempted by your lovely painted bookcase. There are piles of books overflowing around the house yet again....
ReplyDeleteFrench grey sounds divine ! your flowers are so pretty x
ReplyDeleteIt al looks wonderful and were those photos taken outside today? It's been pouring with rain all day here!

ReplyDeleteLiz
Your painted furniture is lovely, and the flowers are so pretty too. Hope you're not too exhausted!
ReplyDeleteI love you fab make-overs! And the flowers - so beautiful! x
ReplyDeleteGosh, you have been busy. Time to take a rest - sit yourself down on the chair, take a book from the bookcase, put the table cloth, biscuit barrel and flowers on the table and don't bother to put the cake under the glass dome. Eat the cake and wash down with a nice cup of tea - or something stronger! You deserve it after all that work.
ReplyDeleteLove from Mum
xx
All of it looks fab! I hate painting...you can send some of those flowers this way if you like.

Hi again Abby,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment. To answer your question -
"Why does hubby call them bus stops?" Somehow he says they remind him of old fashioned bus stops - yes, I know..he's stranger than me! lol.
Lovely post, gorgeous photos and things to drool over and lastly the flowers.
ReplyDeleteI love the glass domed dish and wonderful flower arrangements!
ReplyDeleteMy, you have been busy. The furniture looks great, and I love the biscuit barrel, perfect for a break in between and sitting in your gorgeous garden with a well earned cup of tea. Tamara x

Wow, you have been working hard, but like you once the paint is on the brush you have to just keep going, and it is so nice to see transformation of a piece of ugly furniture to something much prettier! have a lovely weekend
ReplyDeleteJillx

You have been working hard with all the furniture painting - I think you desrve a sit down in your lovely garden with a nice cup of tea:)
ReplyDeleteI love what you do with your furniture. I have a welsh dresser and would love to paint it white or ivory, but wouldn't know where to start. Actually, I know I have to sand first, but I'm scared I'd ruin it, so it will just stay brown...
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend

Oh my goodness - you are inspiring me to get painting, Abby!! I love the things you've painted recently - and waiting for me is a rocking chair (rather fiddly) and a garden bench - (might rain during the job!) I loved seeing the flower embroidered cloth, so pretty - and your gorgeous garden flowers! Have a sunny Sunday!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful paint work. I am curious about the wax finish you applied? Is this beeswax?
ReplyDeleteYou are a hive of activity and being very productive. Like the readers, I feel you deserve a nice strong cup of tea and a freshly baked scone.

Inspiration indeed, isn't it fab to give new life to old pieces. They look lovely, especially love the table. Lat year i sanded down 6 chairs like yours, my hands ached when ihad finished but i loved the end result.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking about painting our kitchen table + chairs - advice??? Very very much appreciated. Dxx
ReplyDeleteYou have done very well wih your painting. Can you come and do mine? I need to piant quite afew bits for the house. I was thinking of leaving some stuff wooden, but I like the airy painted look. I really like the chair and shelf, the shades there are great. Paint choices here are not great. I would love a colour like that, it looks quite French.
ReplyDeleteI love your flowers too and what a sweet and quaint biccie barrel. x
Oh my goodness, I love yOur shabby chic furniture
