Shallow, that's me................

Felt pretty fed up first thing this morning - torrential rain, a leak in the back door of my car (I won't tell you the make of my car, but I went to Halfords recently and asked for "Some oil for my S****" - "Seems a fair swap to me" quipped the man....so yes it's one of those), just missed out on a couple of things I wanted at the Flea market...... :(  etc..

Then by mid-morning, things seemed better - because I'm so shallow, that little purchases cheer me up!  Went to Waitrose and bought two lovely mugs - stoneware, dipped glaze - astonishingly for Waitrose - £2 each! - they look like something you'd pay £10 for in Habitat -

Two new books too!!  Hurrah.

Then I found a tiny brown set of shelves in a charity shop - painted them blue this afternoon -

And a huge, Mexican-looking dish (it was from The Pier in a former life) for £2.99 :) -

And a sweet little pot -

And best of all, noticed two little irises in the garden, battling the elements - not very focused pic, as so windy! -

Anyway, off to see Holy Motors at the Film Society tonight - looks pretty bonkers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=NWu9WjEcdbk

Have a good week!

  2. Looks like your day just got better and better after a miserable start! Great finds, love the mugs and the shelf looks lovely. It's a positive thing to be able to be cheered up by small everyday things I think, not shallow - or if it is shallow then thats me included too!

  3. Lovely finds. I really love the little dresser that you painted. What are you going to put on it?

    1. Well, Anne, I'm gong to put a price tag on it! It's going in my unit in the shop. It's very sweet, but I've got nowhere to put it.

  5. Little treats always cheer you up don't they? I like the shape of the mugs and I like the colour you've apinted the shelves with. I used to like The Pier - shame they closed down. Hope you enjoyed the film:)

    1. It was a very bizarre, surreal film, Rosie! We decided that we'd go to all the films at the local Film Society whether we really fancied them or not - it's been good to go out of one's comfort zone! I liked The Pier too.

  7. Lovely buys VTT. The mugs are really lovely and a bargain for 2 quid each. I'm fed up of our leaky roof. We've had three separate leaks in as many months.....bah......xx

  11. Can't beat a bit of dipped glaze stoneware - they looked a lovely shape too. Just right for cradling with one hand while the other turns the pages of a book. Don't tell me what happens in Life After Life - I've got 2 others in front of it in the Unread Queue! Tonia x

  12. I've just found your lovely blog and see that you've bought "Life after Life" and wondered if you've read it yet and what do you think of it. I was tempted last week in our local bookshop. Hopefully the crochet is going well, I too learnt recently and have some way to go to get it right.
