A brief visit to Ledbury............

Went over to Ledbury the other day - it's a lovely market town, with some interesting shops. I wasn't there very long, but I took some pics of two of my favourites. They're both just off the high street, down alleyways. The first shop has its name on the pavement, just as you enter the alleyway -

Then you carry on down the medieval alleyway -

passing old doorways -

and then suddenly - Kapow!! -

- you're at the shop, which is an amazing building in itself, but particularly so in this medieval setting - like a landed UFO. It was pretty grey the day I was there, but on sunny days, it really gleams! -

They sell gorgeous stuff - beautiful material, lights, etc - more info (and better pics!) HERE

Ledbury has a lovely old Market House, built in 1617 -

The other lovely shop-down-an-alleyway in Ledbury is Hus and Hem -

Again, lovely (Scandi)  things to buy!  More info HERE

Hope you're having a good weekend!

Here be hares.......

Looking for a card and small present for a friend's birthday today, I seemed to get caught up in a bit of a hare theme!  I do love hares!  First off I found this lovely card -

Then I saw this wooden hare decoration -

I have to confess I bought myself one of these just before Christmas -
(from the lovely Lion Gallery in Leominster http://www.liongallery.com/1317/frames.html ) -

As I say, I love hares. I have two hare 'figures' in the house -

and one in the garden - too dark to take a pic now!

These hares (huge - ?papier mache figures) hang in Abergavenny Market Hall, from the Food Festival -

Hope you're having a good week!

52 weeks of happy - week 1

Found myself at a blog called Little birdie earlier - HERE and I liked the idea of 'focusing on little things that make us happy'....

Four things that made me happy last week -

Tilly (7 month old granddaughter) trying to crawl -

Had photos from Christmas printed and loved this one of Tilly and Ruby (2) -

Bought these yellow glass candlesticks from Ludlow market -

 and a new cushion -

Hope you had happiness in your week!

Narcissi and a dragonfly.....

Had hoped to 'jolly up' my unit in a vintage shop in Leominster this week, which I feel is looking a bit jaded -

but I've been sideswiped by a nasty cold - endless coughing and sneezing :(. Finally got out today, but only managed to find one new thing - this side table, with rather curvaceous legs! -

I did find a lovely old wooden stool just before Christmas -

Bought some gorgeous narcissi today, which are just filling the kitchen with their scent -
and cheering me up -

My amaryllis is getting pretty top heavy! Bit of a brazen hussy! -

This woven dragonfly was made by a guy on Ludlow market - its going to go in the garden when the rain stops!

Hope you're having a good day!

Flowers for the New Year

Hi - linking with http://flwrjane-smallbutcharming.blogspot.co.uk/  ..............

My amaryllis has just 'fanfared' open -

Ta - da!

And these Paperwhites were out before Christmas; coming to an end now, but still a lovely scent -

Little cyclamen are always so pretty, aren't they? Inside and outside-

This 'Nandina' has been a useful plant this year, with little white flowers, red berries and lovely colour-changing leaves -

The end of our garden overlooks meadows - though at the moment (enough rain, already!!), it's overlooking lakes!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Big thanks to Helena!

Well, after an excellent tip from Helena at The Swenglish House HERE    , I seem to be able to include pictures again - for free - yay!!

We took grand-daughter Ruby (now 2) to a Winter Wonderland at the local Garden Centre last week and she loved it - was entranced! -

Also, now I can show you pics of eldest daughter's wedding - she got married on Dec 4th -

And pics of Ruby and Tilly (now 6 months) -

Well, it's great to be back, but this isn't getting Christmas lunch for 16 (!!) sorted, so I'd better get into that gear.

Have a lovely Christmas Day!
